Luis “Baboon” Palomino knocked out Robert Washington in the first round at CFA 11.
Championship Fighting Alliance (CFA) hasn’t announced a date for CFA 12 yet, but Luis “Baboon” Palomino posted a status on his Facebook today that may give us an idea when the Miami-based promotion is planning their next event.
“Received a call after training from CFA’s CEO Jorge De La Noval with confirmation of Luiz “buscape” Firmino vs Luis “baboon” Palomino #2 winner takes all August 09 as your main event.” said Palomino via his Facebook account on Monday.
Palomino fought, now CFA Lightweight Champion, Luiz “Buscape” Firmino back at CFA 9 earlier in the year in a five round title fight. Firmino won the fight at CFA 9 by unanimous decision, taking Palomino’s Lightweight title in the process.
The Peruvian fighter has been very vocal about wanting a rematch with Firmino since his first round knockout of Robert Washington at CFA 11.
“I want my rematch with “Buscape” Firmino,” said Palomino to DTM News Journal after CFA 11. “Firmino took my belt from me, it was up for grabs but it was really mine.
“Now the show, the promotion already says “Baboon you deserve your rematch.” Now is Firmino going to give me my rematch?” added Palomino during the interview
CFA 12 has yet to be officially announced, but the August 9th date could very well be correct, seeing how it falls on a Friday which is when the promotion usually puts on it’s events.
If Palomino vs Firmino II ends up being CFA 12’s main event, it’s also a good bet that the CFA Women’s Tournament final between Ashlee Evans-Smith and transgender fighter Fallon Fox will be the night’s co-main event.
Evans-Smith and Fox are scheduled to fight in the finals of the first CFA Women’s Tournament in which the winner will take home $20,000 and the CFA Women’s Featherweight title.
It’s worth noting that Evans-Smith is coming off of a bye in the tournament after her opponent, Anna Barone, didn’t even step on the scale for the official weigh-ins. While Fox is coming off a third round submission win over Allana Jones in the semifinals of the tournament at CFA 11.
